Dogshit and Grayling.
Despite a roiling internal array, from the previous night’s curry and booze, I managed 2 hours on my club stretch of the Wharfe this Saturday. The river was lower than I anticipated and was running quite clear.

…tonight I tied the Klinks! . They ain’t perfect, consistency is a dirty word in my dictionary, clearly but I know they will catch fish so they’ll do. All are on Partridge size 14 Oliver Edwards nymph emerger hooks which seem ideal for Klinkhammers. That’s a grand total of 10 flies over 2 nights, it’s a long [...]

…when I sometimes tie a few flies to fend of the unending misery that is winter. Winter is coming. Valar Morghulis! Anyway, I tied up some GRHEs and a couple of pink bead head flies. It seemed to take me ages to do anything but tackling up was worse than ever. I tied some 3lb copolymer tippet onto the end of my tapered [...]

Decided to drag my manflu ridden self out of the flat and into the fresh air today, so headed down to the river. I got a £4 day-ticket for the Leeds ACA stretch on the Wharfe at Pool, fancying a change from the beat I normally fish via Yorkshire Anglers. I used to fish the stretch [...]

Saturday (03/01/09) found me down on the Wharfe again. Although it was very very cold (barely above freezing) I simply had to wet a line – I had a new Vision wading jacket to try! I had a vague recollection that midday was perhaps best part of the day at this time of year for [...]
