Low Osgoodby Lake

NB – We have not visited this fishery, this information was provided by www.yorkshirefishing.net

Plenty of countryside here to admire as the fishery is set
near to the famous white horse at Kilburn. The water covers
2 acres and is open the whole year around. The water which
is stocked with plenty of Rainbows is also suitable for anglers
with disabilities. The water will cater for 10 anglers at
a time and offers flexibility with day, evening and four hour
tickets.

Tickets are to be purchased from the house on the road leading
to the farm.

Directions – Leaving Thirsk on the A170 you will see the right
turn sign for Kilburn take this road, go through the village
of Balk and the water is signposted by the second farm on
the Right hand side.

My great-great-great grandfather Harrison Osgoodby of England, and his son, John Osgoodby ……My ancestors. Now — my daughter, Melissa, 42, loves to Fly Fish in the United States. Can any information be sent to me on your Low Osgoodby Lake? I’d greatly appreciate it – any contacts on Fly Fishing. I live in Las Vegas, NV.
    Thank you.

I would also greatly appreciate ANY information on the Harrison/Anne/John Osgoodby’s, my ancestors. Please email me if you have any information. I am doing Osgoodby genealogy.
    Thank you.

Moved to Ampleforth and looking for a local lake and this looks good doorstep wise! Can you drive down the dirt track to the right to get to the lake or is it dump the car somewhere and walk?

Are tickets still available from the house? Where else can you get tickets from?

    Many thanks,

    Duncan

Hi Duncan – I’m afraid the lovely old farmer passed away several months ago – I think he was 92…. Tickets are available from his son at the furniture workshop – carry on past the house to the farm area 60 yards beyond. You will see the workshop and furniture sign on the building. Knock on the door or call out ‘Hello’ if no reply. You can usually drive down to the field gate if the ground is firm.

      Cheers, Mark.

      Hi Duncan.
We have taken over the lake from the late Allen Fawcett.
We are relaunching the lake and would love to welcome you down to the lake sometime.
Prices are frozen for the time being and we have just restocked the lake.
Things are going really well down here.
      Kind regards
      Michael and John.

Had a fantastic evening fish on Saturday, £15 for 2 fish.

Beautiful views and only a stones throw away from me, beautiful rainbow trout and lots of fish moving in the pond.

Has been well looked after and will be visiting again soon.

Lovey reception from Micheal . Tops marks all round.
