At the end of April myself and nine other members of Swale Ure & Nidd branch of Salmon & Trout Ass. held our annual Junior training day at Thornton Steward thanks to the generosity of Felling Flyfishers.
Despite abysmal weather 17 boys and girls had a fantastic day ably tutored by Jeff Metcalfe and assisted by we members. In total 15 fish were landed (one youngster had 5) the largest – 2lb 8oz was caught by Tom Hutchinson and the youngster who showed the most improvement and promise was Jake Chappell.
We hope to have a similar day next year, so if anyone would like their children to learn the art of flyfishing watch this space. Again many thenks to Felling Flyfishers.
Regards Daff.

Hi Chris,
I suppose it’s about five or six miles from Bedale, I don’t get the chance to fish it (apart from teaching the youngsters as I don’t drive any more, and no buses go there, but it is a cracking fishery
